Black Out

Tomorrow it will me too late

Author: Marc Elsberg

A cold night in Milan, Piero Manzano wants to get home. Then the traffic lights fail. Manzano is thrown from his Alfa as cars pile up. And not just on this street – every light in the city is dead. Across Europe, controllers watch in disbelief as electricity grids collapse. Plunged into darkness, people are freezing. Food and water supplies dry up. The death toll soars. Former hacker and activist Manzano becomes a prime suspect. But he is also the only man capable of finding the real attackers. Can he bring down a major terrorist network before it’s too late?

Firstly there isn’t only the book, but also a series about this book. In my opninion it isa great book. It’s fast, tense and thrilling. What I like even more about it, is that it’s very much timely, since a „blackout“ could and probably will happen one day in the future.

The Goldfinch

Author: Donna Tartt

Aged thirteen, Theo Decker, son of a devoted mother and an absent father, miraculouly survives a catastrophe that otherwise tears his life apart. Alone and rudderless in New York, he is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. The is tormented by longing for his mother and down the years he clings to the thing that most reminds him of her: a small, captivating painting that ultimately draws him into the criminal underworld.

To this book there also excists a movie. Both the book and movie are great but also a little bit different. Now let’s not talk about that too much but let’s get to my opinion on this book. It was very good, not only did it have an interesting plot but it’s also amazing how we can grow with the main character (Theo). We could read, how he grew up, got through a lot of difficult times and also about his first love. On the other hand it also was very much thrilling from time too time and there where moments in which I had to hold my breath.
